Former 2004/2005 Player-of-the-Season, Ronnie Wallwork, has been released by the club and signed for Sheffield Wednesday until the end of the season. The former Manchester United man had spent the previous three-months on loan at Huddlesfield who were keen to make the move permanent. Tony Mowbray earlier declared a host of interest in Wallwork from various clubs however the midfielder has decided to join the Championship strugglers in their battle against relegation.

The 30-year-old failed to make a single appearance this term for the Baggies and will be largely remember for his central-midfield partnership with Kieran Richardson as Albion became the first team to avoid relegation from the Premiership after being bottom of the table at Christmas during the 'Great Escape' season.

Signed on a free transfer by Gary Megson in 2002, Wallwork's time at the club was hindered last season after being stabbed outside a Manchester nightclub. In total Ronnie made 107 appearances, eight as a substitute, and scored three times.

As the same time Wallwork left The Hawthorns Tony Mowbray revealed that trialist 'keeper Michal Danek was to spend a third day training with the club.

"Danek is here training with us at the moment and we'll see how it goes," the Albion chief said.

"He'll train with us again today before flying home.

"He's got to go back to his club to prepare for the second half of their season."
