Nathan Ellington will reportedly rejoin Wigan from West Brom in the next 48 hours. Wigan have offered the Baggies £2 million and although the Championship club are holding out for £3 million, the deal should go through in the next few days, according to the Manchester Evening News. Boss Paul Jewell is desperate for a new striker as he seeks to halt a poor run of form which has seen the Latics lose their last five matches to slip to fourth from bottom of the Premiership. Ellington is desperate to leave The Hawthorns as he does not feature in new manager Tony Mowbray's plans but Duke's advisor Tony Finnigan believes his client can kick-start his career at the JJB Stadium.
Jewell said: "We badly need another striker. Emile Heskey needs someone to partner him and Henri Camara is out with a knee injury. We need someone in pretty quickly. Maybe we need to go back to the basics because we are conceding too many goals. We need leaders, because I said all along this was going to be a hard season."
Ellington scored 59 goals in 134 games for Wigan between 2002 and 2005 but left for West Brom after failing to agree terms on a new contract. However, he has only scored 11 goals for the Baggies due to a combination of injuries and poor form.
