After a delayed kick-off due to traffic problems (I was in it) Albion played the expected side and started like a house on fire.
Bright Start
Some excellent football led to some dire shooting from Dorrans and a few decisions not going our way. A possible penalty for a block on Thomas was ignored by Mr D’Urso. After all our good play we nearly went behind when Carson was forced into a brilliant save from a close range Dyer effort, stemming from one of several Mattock mistakes.
For all our pressing we posed no threat at all, everything breaking down when the biggest waste of money in the clubs history got involved. Only another Carson save kept us level, although their finishing was almost as bad as ours.
After the Break
The subs at half-time helped a bit but we were punished for our lack of half decent forwards by a well taken Craig Beattie goal. A few Welsh prats, who then revealed themselves in the Brummie, did little to help our health and temper! D’Urso then seemed to lose the plot, missing a blatant foul on Tex, and then failing to play advantage when Wood was clear through. The woeful Cox then missed poorly the same sort of chance Beattie had put away so easily. Another couple of fine Carson saves were then needed to save our night going from bad to worse.
On Reflection
In my view we played some decent football, as did they, but without reinforcements up front we will struggle to stay with the pace. Get real R.D.M. they are NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Mulumbu would have been my man of the match, with Jara a close second. Moore, Cox, Mattock? Ditch them, and quick.
